Covid19 in the UK - Oxford - 21 April 2020

Blessing in Disguise

Oh Allah, thank you for all blessing that you have given to us and family. I pray hard may with Your Mercy, You ease all people in this world to overcome this difficult situation.

I never imagine how COVID situation really impacts my life in so many ways. Alhamdulillah that ALLAH gives me and family the strength to be here and grant us with all the rezeki :) So, what happened in my life after COVID?

My husband lost his job but...
--Allah, however, has beautifully arranged the best for us. My husband entitles to claim for the 80% wage bill since he stops working in Mid March until now. That's mean Alhamdulillah we don't need to use our saving money to pay for the house rent and other bills including food. Allahuakhbar.

My husband lost his job but...
--Allah, however, has beautifully arranged the best for us. I'm now able to spend most of my time with Yusuf and my hubby. Just the three of us. As my husband is not working, he is the one that taking care Yusuf so that I can do my writing and others works. Allahhuakhbar.

Time slot for pengisian rohani
--Allah, however, has beautifully arranged the best for us. Every day, my husband and I will spend time to read the Quran together and also we will choose one slot so that he can deliver tazkirah. I also take this opportunity to be more consistent towards Dhuha prayer. Subhanallah.

Termination of University accommodation without the need to pay for breach contract...
--Allah, has beautifully arranged the best for us and all the Oxford students here. Those who want to go back early to their home country can terminate the house contract any time and we don't need to pay anything for breaching the contract. The University has also been very considerate towards Oxford students that they allow me to pay daily rent for July for the 6 days that I will be staying at my house here. Subhanallah.

Grammarly Software paid by my Wolfson College for a year (£139.95)
--Allah, however, has beautifully arranged the best for my study. I asked for a fund from my college to pay for Grammarly software that has been very helpful for my thesis and paper writing. And they easily agreed!! Alhamdulillah.

I know there are many people experiencing difficulties right now. In sha Allah, ALLAH knows the best for us. Keep counting HIS blessing and you will get more of HIS blessing, in sha Allah. Sabr, Redha and Tawakal are the best remedies for us. May ALLAH bless.

Doa Al Matsurat

Covid19 in the UK - Oxford - 5 April 2020

What if we positive with COVID19 or have symptoms of COVID19???

I've been talking with my best friends yesterday on this issue. It fell good that all of us gave our opinion on how to stay positive and calm during this situation. Plus, I have a fever two days ago, my emotion was a little bit down. Frankly speaking, I think my fever was due to DPhil workload.. hehehe. But anyway, I'm so much better now, alhamdulillah.

What if we have COVID19?or the symptoms

UK handles COVID19 differently from Malaysia, thus I do believe I need to have different pathways and views on coping with the issues. Here are what we conclude from our discussion and I really hope that these can benefit all the readers in some ways :) The least that I can do to help in this difficult time.

1. First of all, be grateful, Alhamdulillah that Allah has chosen us to experience part of this test. Most importantly remember, most of us are still young that our antibody will and can fight COVID19, in sha Allah.

2. Remember, it is not the end of your life. I was so grateful when I had a fever. Why? Because it has been ages that I don't feel sick or insecure. Allah wants me to seek for him and I can't say more than Alhamdulillah for this blessing. I pray Allah to help me to be closer to him, to remember him, to miss him, and Allah is answering my prayer through fever. Allah is the greatest. :)

3. Follow all the government's rules and NHS advice. In the UK, who has shown symptoms of COVID19 don't need to be tested unless if the symptoms become severe. These are some websites that those in the UK need to be aware of:

Advice for everyone
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
--Taken from the website:

Treating coronavirus symptoms at home

To help yourself stay well while you're at home:
  • rest and sleep
  • drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration – drink enough so your pee is light yellow and clear
  • take paracetamol to lower your temperature

Check if you have COVID19 symptoms
https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/
--remember, COVID19 is a new virus and little is known about this virus. Even though if you have a slight fever or cough, this NHS website will consider you to potentially contracted with the virus. They will advise you what to do next and you will also receive text messages with advice from NHS.
--I filled in the form and I request an isolation note. I don't have too, but just for my memory. See below :)

4. This is the time to reflect on your life and your relationship with Allah :) - My husband and I have scheduled our daily quran/tazkirah time together with Yusuf. Allah is the greatest. Even though I had been sick (minor fever even for one day and half only) has really changed my life. The power of a test, especially during this pandemic that really transforms me and my family life towards a better direction in sha Allah.

That's all for today. Stay safe and stay healthy all my lovely readers. Most importantly, be grateful and stay blessed :) Allah loves us.

Covid19 in the UK - Oxford - 3 April 2020

Assalamualaikum wbt and hello to all..

Alhamdulillah, today is 3rd April 2020, and I'm still here, in Oxford. Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah. Even though COVID-19 has hit the UK so badly, I'm grateful that Allah still allows me to breathe and live in this fantastic world.

Due to COVID19, all students were instructed to work from home to ensure we didn't contract with the virus. It is not easy, especially the fact that I have a baby. But I always told myself that I can't change my environment, but I can change my way of thinking and perspectives of working from home. This time, I'm happy to share with you what I'm doing to help me stay focus. Just remember, there are days that I'm not productive at all, but most of the time, I found myself more focus with all the steps taken.

1. I set up two desks for me to study; one desk in the bedroom and the other one is in the living room. When my son, Yusuf wakes up and playing, he will be with my husband in the living room, and I will be in the bedroom, studying. When Yusuf sleeps in the bedroom, I will be outside in the living room.

2. I set up and plan my daily activities. With the restricted movement, there are no other ways than  I need to push myself to plan all my daily activities at home. To get used to it, I discuss with my husband to ensure that he also gets his own sweet time for himself (he's the one that taking care of Yusuf while I'm studying). Half-day in the morning, I will spend my time with him and Yusuf before start studying. I will take a break from any study activity starting from 5pm to 9 pm so that I can spend my time with Yusuf and allow my husband to take a break. Alhamdulillah, I'm grateful that my husband is a very understanding man :)

3. Motivational quotes/Duas at my desktop - with COVID19, I know that lots of people are in unstable emotion. One of the most important reasons is because we are not as productive as before. I do agree with that. But, I didn't expect myself to be as productive as before as I know the limit and the condition for my studying now is different than before. I try not to set any hardcore dateline that I can't even follow that can stress me out. I love to say that I just follow the flow. I do set up my target every day, but if I didn't achieve it, I will muhasabah diri and try again tomorrow. Every day is a new beginning, and I love the quote :)

4. Limit your time to hear the news -  This doesn't mean that I don't follow any news at all. I do spend my lunchtime hearing the news for about one hour, and that's it. It is enough for me to know what is currently happening and what is Malaysian's government suggestions and plans. Most importantly, I only look up at few selected authorities to know specific plans and suggestions for students at oversea e.g fb Malaysian Embassy and also info from my employer, UKM.

5. Allah is the best planner - When I think about this, I know that I'm in good hands. No matter how details my plan are, I also try so hard to remind me that I'm not the ultimate planner. Ultimately, we all need to pray so hard so that ALLAH will help us to get through this difficult time. Allah is everything, HE owns everything. :)  I love to end my post with this beautiful ayaah from Al Baqarah: 216
