Student Mom_My Dphil Journey at Oxford University

Assalamualaikum and hello to all

Thank you for visiting my blog :) For those of you that still don't know me, here is a little bit introduction of myself.

My name is Afifah and I'm a DPhil student at Oxford University under Radcliffe Department of Medicine. Below are some pictures of me and CCRF family :)

The ladies, CCRF

When I was in the second year of DPhil, I got to know that I was pregnant to Yusuf and due on Dec 2018. Alhamdulillah, but to be honest, I was so nervous and of course, confused and afraid. Being a mom while having a baby was not an easy task. Luckily, I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful and a very understanding husband :)

Yusuf was born on 9 Dec 2018 and everything change. Lack of sleep and emotional swing especially during the first 4 months was real...But, you know what, Allah never burden me, HIS slave with something that is out of my capability. Instead, Allah Alhamdulillah make me a stronger person and of course a mom and wife to two important men in my life :)

As a student mom, things are not easy. But I learnt how to adapt :)  There were so many times that my husband used to bring Yusuf to CCRF and accompanied me doing analysis until 1 or 2 am in the morning. Below are some pictures of our sweet memories at CCRF :)

My message to all student moms - You are the best to your kids and your husband. Stay strong and keep going. One fine day, you will get the degree and proud of having your small kids running around you. A prove that you survive your degree. Your time will come. In sha Allah. :)

Love,

Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park, Oxford, UK

Assalamualaikum and hello to all readers. I hope you are all doing well and healthy. Alhamdulillah, thank you, Allah, for all your blessing to us.

Two months left of my stay here in Oxford. I’m going back so soon to Malaysia. I’m so blessed to be here for almost four years, alhamdulillah. I haven’t finished my DPhil, but I will soon in sha Allah. Please make dua for me and others. 😊 While counting days, I feel so blessed to be able to spend time with Yusuf and my hubby. Today I went to Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park, which is very close to my house. Cutteslowe and Sunnymead is the largest park in Oxford. Here are some pictures of us together:

HAJJ 2018 from UK

Alhamdulillah, today is the 10th day of Ramadan. Allah is the Most Merciful. Lets us seek for HIS forgiveness and may Allah bless us and grant us the best in this life and hereafter. In sha Allah.

Lately, I've been missing Mecca so much. That reminds me of my journey with my hubby to Hajj in 2018. Thank you, Allah, for choosing us to perform Hajj, I would say at a very young age, 28 years old. It has been my dream to perform Hajj during my PhD. Everything start with a dream, and I really worked towards that. We save money every month for the past few years with the intention to go for Hajj. I still remember, I register for the Hajj package on the day I passed my first oral DPhil Viva, 12 December 2017 (first year DPhil). That day was also my 3rd wedding anniversary. It was like double joy for us on that day. We prayed hard so that Allah eased our way.

Few months into 2018, I got to know that I was pregnant with Yusuf. At that time, I still remembered, I was so worried thinking whether I should go for Hajj or not. Again, it was not an easy decision. I'm thankful to Allah, until today that HE guided and gave me and my husband the strength to stick to our decision to go to Hajj on that year. Allah, the Most Merciful. I will share about this journey later in the other post in sha Allah. I was 5 months pregnant during the Hajj.

For this post, I'm happy to share with you some of our pictures during Hajj in 2018. May Allah accept this Hajj from us and all of other pilgrims. Ameen.
